TAXI.........!

Participants of the "Complementaria Ingles tecnico dirigido al sector turistico" all of them taxi drivers from the three san gil taxi companies Cootrasangil, Cootraguanenta and Cootrafonce in the final exercise where they had to practice what they learned.

For this activity we invited Steve Packe a guy from London England who helped us acting as a passenger.They drivers had the opportunity to answer simple questions, give advice, have a small talk and finally get paid and give change.

It was very rewarding working with this group, thank you all and thank you Steve for your help.  

WHAT IS ENGLISH GOOD FOR?

Students from "Gestion Empresarial" Curiti, making a presentation where they had to answer and tell their opinion about the question what is english good for?, the main goal was to make them aware of the importance of learning english especially in their field. Creating our landscape!

Well, this time  the students of ADSI Villanueva, had the opportunity to practice the basic colors molding plasticine in order to make a landscape with roses, grass, trees, bushes, lakes and rocks. They had to mix yellow, red and blue plasticine to obtain more colors. This was an amazing activity that enhances vocabulary by promoting: communication skills, listening skills, language skills, cognitive skills, fine and gross motorskills, social and emotional development, and creativity too. The phone is broken !

Unfortunately the only phone we had in town was broken, which means we (contibilidad y finanzas socorro) had to use our speaking and listening skills to send our messages properly to its final destination. This activity showed us how important these skills are, and why pronuntiation plays a vital role in improving our english. We had plenty of fun and learnt a lot.

Singing in English

Students of “Construcción” (San Gil) were singing like children in “our English class”. The students were divided in 6 groups and each team has a different topic. The activity led the students to improve their speaking and writing skills. They used to use vocabulary and grammar to compose songs in English. Everybody enjoyed it and had fun learning. Remembering with creativity

Recalling with creativity, here students observing different flash cards try to remember and create a small sentence, thus the learner through contextualization link the figure and name and then make a short sentence and then memorize and reinforce what they had learn to be able to speak english. Why not a genoise cake?

The students of asistencia administrativa from San Gil had the opportunity to "bake" without baking a genoise cake in order to practice some expressions and vocabulary about food... the verbs spread, pour, cut, apply, mix, etc. They received all the instructions in English. It was a great activity where they promoted the value of sharing. Some of them discovered cooking skills... Would you like a slice of it?

My heart will go on

Students of Asistencia Administrativa (Socorro) a group around 20 students were doing a singing act. This time two girls sag the song “My heart will go on”. They showed a nice presentation, they introduced themselves and then explained the song workshop. Is it difficult to sing? Yes! But we learn vocabulary and pronunciation of some words. We enjoy and make fun of body expressions!

AA Had fun learning!

Students of Asistencia Administrativa (San Gil) were playing like children in “Tangara ” game. The students were divided in 8 groups and each team has a different topic. The activity led the students to learn “the adjectives”, “verbs”, “human body parts”, “To Be”, “fruit” and “colors”; using common expressions need it in these topics. Everybody enjoyed it and had fun learning.

Narrating stories

During this activity learners from DIRECCIÓN DE VENTAS were supposed to write a paragraph in which they had to make use of diverse connectors, adverbs, past forms and past time expressions. This idea was to have cooperative work in which they narrated a story taking into account certain verbs and words given by their teacher.

Students were also taught and asked to use appropriate punctuation marks and writing parameters such as cohesion, coherence, etc. to provide a comprehensible text.   

COOPERATE COORDINATE AND OVERTAKE

Accounting and finance group at socorro really enjoy challenging each other, at this time they had to take a glimpse to their vocabulary before heading to the board to write a word, the only condition they had was that the first letter of the word had to be the same of the last. The group with most words would win this challenge and recieve a soda from the loser group.

TWISTER TIME

Minions time!

Contabilidad y finanzas students from San Gil, had the opportunity to enhance and make a paper craft according to Despicable me movie. They lived actions as cut, fold, put, and cut, making a 4D Minion... that was a great chance to make praxis on this topic. They helped themselves in order to accomplished this activity. Well done.

Spelling bee contest

This "warming up" session took place at Chima with the group of "TO. GESTION EMPRESAS AGROPECUARIAS", they are just getting started in interacting with the english language. The group was divided in two, the winner of the spelling bee contest (getting 10 points) would recieve a wonderful reward (Free soda from the loser group).

Collocations

"Gestion Empresarial" students from Curiti learning about collocations through a competition game where they had to find the right word to use with verbs like: do, go, have, make, take, etc. Text and picture Willy Wandurraga.

What's this? It's an Elephant

Students of Contrucción (Berlín), a group of 16 boys were learning about numbers: pronunciation, spelling, math problems, listening and so on. In this activity they were drawing and elephant by join dots. The teacher says a sequence of numbers and the students identify which ones she says in order to make some lines and complete the elephant. Sometimes they were confused about the pronunciation of some numbers like 13, 30, 15, 50 etc. At the end everybody completed the picture! By Lily Rojas

Successful Learning!

Dirección de Ventas students were aware than some people learn a language easier than others. So, regarding those learning differences in the classroom students collected some tips looking forward a successful experience connected to their personal lives. Additionally, Students recognize how important it is to develop the ability of Team-work in order to solve a problem.

The test to remember and memorize

students here from maintenance of computer equipment, try to remember and memorize different phrases in English to be able to engage in short conversations in English and also use these tools to develop a text in English. This way they will perform down the road in their best capacity, write and pronunce diferent texts in English.

Learning while having fun!

During this activity students and I had an amazing time. We played “The secret friend” game. The idea of this was to describe the person you’ve got as the secret friend. Students were supposed to provide as much information as possible about their friends while the rest of the class tried to find out who they were talking about. They also draw a picture on the board highlighting their friends’ main features.  

Shopping time!

Students of Gestión Empresarial (San Gil) went shopping. The classroom was set as a shopping center where the learners were given roles of sellers and customers. Our shopping center offered the following services: a cafeteria, a shoe store, a bakery, a hotel, a stationery shop and an ice cream parlor. The students were divided in 8 groups and each team has a different service. The activity led the students to learn customer service’s vocabulary and manners; using common expressions need it in this topic. 
The students were marked along with their customer service teacher. Everybody enjoyed it and had fun learning.

Nos étudiants ont du talent

En deux séances, les étudiants de la classe de gastronomie ont imaginé et réalisé des Bandes Dessinées, pour démontrer leurs aptitudes et habiletés. Aidés par des outils et ressources en ligne, les apprentis ont imaginé leurs histoires.

«La parabole du fils Prodigue » a été la meilleure de toutes les bandes dessinées réalisées. Cette histoire a été créée par Ciro Alfonso PEÑUELA MELGAREJO et Braulio SANDOVAL HERNÁNDEZ.

Welcome to Colombia Weather Forecast!

Students of Asistencia Administrativa –Socorro-(Tuesday at night) a group about 22 learners, were doing a big challenge! They had to present a tv program using an online tool and taking about the Colombia weather. We were learning the different types of weather, and searching online about the IDEAM report. The final project was to show news in front of the group and telling us what´s the weather like in Colombia. The presentations were amazing! I’m glad they can talk about the environment.

CONJUCTION FUNCTION

"tecnologia en produccion agropecuaria ecologica" students from valle del morro learning how to use conjuctions while organizing jumbled sentences, these apprentices are dedicated mostly to agricultural labors and it's really a pleasure working with them since they are truly interested in learning english. Communicative Interaction

As part of the language contents to be taught in the English classroom, students learn and put into practice the names of important countries, nationalities, currencies as well as world population facts. As shown in the photos, Accounting and Finances learners in Socorro are really eager to interact each other asking and answering questions in English.

The snaphots here expose communicative intentions of students looking forward to share information related to countries from all around.

Domino

Les étudiants de gastronomie à San Gil ont fait des dominos avec des mots et des dessins tous différents pour apprendre les fruits, les légumes et quelques verbes reliées avec la cuisine. Chaque jeu devait compter 28 pièces.                

Dans l'image ci-dessous, on voit les pièces du domino fait par l'un des groupes que mélange des verbes en français et l'anglais. À la fin, on a "parcœurisé" le vocabulaire de la cuisine de manière ludique au travers de dominos. À bientôt!

COMPOUND WORDS FROM ADSI

This wonderful group of students from ADSI are performing an activitie of compound words,this is a great way to learn not only vocabulary, but they are able to build up diferents words in order to understand the meaning of the same.putting two words together. Also they have the oportunity to pronounce the words.and memorize it to create diferents sentences. September 16, 2013

Christmas time!

Christmas time,

Throughout this activity students from the nursing program were exposed to a set of listening exercises in order to recognize all structures in present continuous and vocabulary related to Christmas.

Firstly, students did diverse listening comprehension exercises such as true-false and matching ones. Then, when played a game in which they were asked about the new words and their corresponding pronunciation. The idea was to stick on the board a picture in front of the agreeing word or phrase.

Secondly, students built up a short conversation where they were supposed to use questions in present simple and continuous forms regarding Christmas.

Finally, they presented their conversations to the class and were given feedback about pronunciation and tenses. 

Building vocabulary

Students of Gestión Empresarial (San Gil) were checking the basic vocabulary that they learnt in the last competence. In the pictures, they are making flash cards using the verbs in infinitive, past simple and images, where they were trying to represent the verbs with one of them. The students were divides in 8 groups and each team has different vocabulary to represent.

The idea of the activity was to link vocabulary with an image and then to make sentences using the words given, past simple and present simple form to develop writing and speaking skills. 

Sharing our best moments

In August the students from Masonry in Mogotes were preparing different expressions to have a basic conversation, using the present simple and past simple form. In the exercise they learnt new vocabulary in accord with daily routines.

The activity was a role play, where the students represent different moments of their life; the idea was to develop listening and speaking skills to have a little and fun conversation.

Setting up interview sequence plans

Learning to conduct the information when recording an interview is one of the goals for marketing and sales students at Centro Agroturístico. In the image, a group of learners are planning the order of Wh-questions and answers intended to be asked during an oral interview. The purpose of this learning activity has to do with review and practice of speakers´ oral skills in English.
