Sharing our best moments

In August the students from Masonry in Mogotes were preparing different expressions to have a basic conversation, using the present simple and past simple form. In the exercise they learnt new vocabulary in accord with daily routines.

The activity was a role play, where the students represent different moments of their life; the idea was to develop listening and speaking skills to have a little and fun conversation.

Setting up interview sequence plans

Learning to conduct the information when recording an interview is one of the goals for marketing and sales students at Centro Agroturístico. In the image, a group of learners are planning the order of Wh-questions and answers intended to be asked during an oral interview. The purpose of this learning activity has to do with review and practice of speakers´ oral skills in English. In addition, and as part of their final evidences, students are getting ready for conducting their own commercial interviews. Text and photo by Nelson G.

Good Farewell

Students of “Gestión Empresarial” San Gil ended  the “Comprender textos en ingles de forma escrita y oral” competencia where sad, happy, crazy, cool, mad, excited, enthusiastic  and more emotions came out. Using the emotion’s faces they showed their opinion about the English class and ways of learning a new language; although most of them were afraid and a bit annoyed at the beginning of the exercise, they were enjoying it at the end, realizing the importance of knowing a new language.

How is your spelling comprehension?

Students of Asistencia Administrativa (Socorro) were doing some spelling exercises related to Plural Nouns. The class of around 24 students was divided in two groups. From each group a student comes to the board and S/he started to listen their partners spelling the word. Everybody was very excited! The group that finishes first gets a point. Students leart that the pronunciation of Spanish vowels are totally different from English vowels. Usually they get confused, but at the end they recognized their own mistakes.

Building up sentences thru english.

The computers maintenance group are developing a set of wool yarn game passing it to each other in order to remember and think about putting together English sentences using the verb tobe, adjectives, pronouns, articles, adverbs of frequency and prepositions. This didactic activity helps students to improve the way they build and produce short texts in English in a versatile and effective way. Photo and text by George Martinez

Getting ready to interview

In this opportunity my students from the nursing program are getting ready to present an interview regarding their daily activities. For this exercise they had to provide a suitable conversation in English using proper structures and pronunciation patterns. The idea was to know more about what their classmates commonly do on a week day and also to be able to look into students’ lives.

This activity was made after a listening exercise in which students were supposed to develop speaking skills in the present simple form since all structures used in the exercise were necessary to build up real context interrogative, affirmative and negative sentences.
